What we know
Effective June 1, 2026
Ishira holds your life. Here is the plain version of how we treat it — what we know, what we never ask for, and how easily you can take everything with you.
What we know about you
A random ID. That is the whole of it.
Not your name. Not your email. Not your phone, your birthday, or where you are. You can use Ishira for months and we still would not know who you are.
If you later choose a username, you choose it. It does not have to be your real name.
What we never ask for
- Your real name
- Your email or phone number
- Your date of birth
- Your location
- Anything from your contacts, photos, or other apps
You can give us an email later, only if you want easier recovery. Most people never do.
Where your life is kept
Your entries live on servers in Frankfurt, Germany — inside the European Union, under some of the strongest privacy law there is.
A copy stays on your phone too, so Ishira still works when you are offline.
What the voice service sees
When you speak, your words become text. Where your phone can do that itself, it does, and nothing leaves the device. Otherwise the audio goes to Groq, our transcription provider, and comes back as text.
The audio is not kept. Only the text stays, as part of your entry.
Groq does not train on what you say. Neither do we. Your voice is for remembering, not for teaching a machine.
What we do with your entries
We remember them. That is all.
The summaries and reflections you see are drawn from your own entries, shown back to you. They go nowhere else. We do not sell them, advertise against them, or hand them to anyone.
How long we keep it
If you never make an account, your timeline is removed after 90 days of quiet.
If you do, it stays for as long as you are here.
If an account goes untouched for three years, we reach out first — where we have a way to — sixty days before anything is removed. Nothing disappears without warning.
Taking it with you
Everything you put into Ishira, you can take out — as JSON, as Markdown, or as a PDF you can read like a memoir. From inside the app. No forms, no waiting, no asking us.
The easiest way to trust something with your life is to know you can leave with it.
Leaving
You can delete any entry, or your whole account, whenever you like. When you do, it is gone from our systems within a day, and from our backups within thirty.
After that, it is gone. We cannot get it back, and neither can anyone else.
The whole idea, in one line
We minimise what we know about you. We maximise what we remember for you.
